Hamden Man Found With Drugs Hidden In Lint Roller: State PD
A man was arrested after police say he was found with heroin, cocaine and marijuana hidden in a lint roller during a traffic stop on I-95.
WEST HAVEN, CT — A Hamden man was arrested after police say he was found to be in the possession of heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana during a traffic stop on I-95 in West Haven early Tuesday morning. State Troopers were conducting vehicle enforcement in the area of I-95 South in West Haven around 2 a.m. on Nov. 12, according to police.
Troopers conducted a motor vehicle stop after seeing a Toyota Avalon failing to maintain its proper lane, according to police. While speaking with the driver, identified as 35-year-old Ellis Reaves, troopers detected a “strong odor of marijuana” emanating from inside the vehicle, police said.
State Police K-9 Cezar was at the scene and also alerted troopers to the presence of drugs. During a search of the vehicle, police found a clothing lint roller with a hidden compartment inside.

Inside the lint roller, troopers found 46 bags of suspected heroin with a combined weight of 12.1 grams, 31 bags of suspected crack cocaine with a total weight of 9.0 grams and one bag of suspected marijuana with a total weight of 6.4 grams, according to police.
Reaves, of Piper Road in Hamden, was arrested and taken to Troop G in Bridgeport where he was charged with two counts of sale of narcotics and three counts of possession of a controlled substance or less than 1/2 ounce of cannabis. He was later released on a $25,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court on Nov. 26.
