Hamden Man Killed In Motor Scooter Crash With Pickup Truck

Police have identified the victim in the fatal crash, which occurred over the weekend in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man was killed in a crash involving a motor scooter and a pickup truck on Saturday afternoon. Police have identified the victim as David Troiano, 38, of Hamden. Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Davis Street and Hartford Turnpike at about 3:45 p.m. on June 10 on the report of motor vehicle accident involving a pickup truck and a motor scooter with serious injuries.

The operator of the motor scooter was transported by ambulance to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, according to Sgt. Anthony Diaz. Police identified the victim as Troiano on Monday afternoon.

Diaz said the passenger on the scooter (a 32-year-old woman from New Haven) was also injured, but her injuries were not life-threatening. (To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Diaz said the initial investigation revealed that the pickup truck was traveling northbound on Hartford Turnpike; entered the intersection of Davis Street where it collided with the motor scooter, which was traveling eastbound on Davis Street.

The impact ejected both operator and passenger of the scooter, according to Diaz. The operator of the pickup truck was not injured.
