Hamden Man Sentenced In Sexual Assault Of Minor

The man was convicted by a jury in connection with the sexual assault of a minor, according to officials.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man has been sentenced to serve five years in prison in connection with the sexual assault of a minor, according to officials.

Corey Baker, 48, was sentenced Friday to 20 years in prison, execution suspended after five years served, followed by 15 years of sexual offender probation, New Haven Judicial District State’s Attorney John P. Doyle Jr. announced.

Baker was also ordered to register as a sexual offender for 10 years after his release from the State of Connecticut Department of Correction, according to Doyle.

On Dec. 5, a jury in New Haven Superior Court found Baker guilty of one count of fourth-degree sexual assault and one count of risk of injury to a minor.

According to the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice, evidence presented at the trial showed that Baker “engaged in inappropriate physical contact with a female acquaintance over an extended period,” beginning when she was 6 years old and continuing until she was 14.

The case was investigated by the East Haven Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Krista N. Minniti, with assistance from Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Lindade, Investigator Kerry Dalling, Inspector Sean Faughnan, and Office of Victim Services Advocate Brandi Rodriguez.
