Hamden Mayor Joins Fight Against Illegal Guns
Mayor Curt Balzano Leng joins the 'Mayors Against Illegal Guns' organization.

Hamden Mayor Curt Balzano Leng is joining the fight for common-sense gun laws by becoming a member of the organization “Mayors Against Illegal Guns.”
Leng joins 18 other municipal leaders across the state, and more than 1,000 current and former mayors overall, in the organization that was started in 2006 by then-New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and is “united in their belief that we can respect the Second Amendment by doing much more to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people,” according to the New Haven Register.
Leng told Kate Ramunni of the New Haven Register that tackling crime is one of his priorities and since took office in May, Hamden police officers have returned to “walking the beat” in the Highwood section of town and he wants to see the program expanded.
