- George August Saddig served from August 1, 1922 - August 15, 1993 in the U.S. Army, Private First Class, World War II, 30th Infantry Division (The Old Hickory), 113th Field Artillery. He was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic efforts on February 20, 1945. He was also awarded 5 Battle Stars: Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), and Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. George was raised in the Spring Glen section of Hamden, CT. After the war, he settled with his wife, Anne, in East Haven, CT, where she still resides.
