Hamden Election 2017 Results: Vote Totals For All Races
Residents voted on several local positions in Tuesday's municipal election. Here are the results.

HAMDEN, CT — Democratic Hamden Mayor Curt Balzano Leng was re-elected to his second full term in convincing fashion, defeating Republican challenger Salman Hamid by a vote of 7,777 to 2,677. Town Clerk Vera Morrison, a Democrat, ran unopposed and received 8,498 votes. Residents also voted on candidates for Legislative Council and Board of Education in Tuesday’s municipal election.
Democrats Michael McGarry, Lauren Garrett, John DeRosa and Berita Rowe Lewis won in the race for at-large council seats, along with Republicans Betty Wetmore and Marjorie Bonadies. The results for Council At-Large are as follows: Garrett, 6,562; DeRosa, 6,510; McGarry, 6,402; Rowe Lewis, 6,312; Wetmore, 3,515; Bonadies, 3,386; James Anthony (R) 2,908 and Rosalie Cavanaugh (R) 2,800.
The following were winners in the District Council races: Democrat Jody E. Clouse (District 1), Democrat Harry Gagliardi Jr. (District 2), Democrat Athena Gary (District 3), Democrat Eric Annes (District 4), Democrat Justin Farmer (District 5), Democrat Cory O’Brien (District 6), Democrat Michael Colaiacovo Jr. (District 7), Democrat James Pascarella (District 8), and Democrat Brad MacDowall (District 9).

Board of Education results: Walter L. Morton IV (D) 7,019, Melissa A. Kaplan-Charkow (D) 6,574, M. Arturo Perez-Cabello (D) 6,454, Melinda LaVelle Saller (D) 6,449, Lynn Campo (R) 3,344, Gail Mitchell (R) 3,022 and Beth Alice Wolak (R) 2,935.
Board of Education to fill vacancy: Myron W. Hul (D) 7,838.

HAMDEN, CT — On Nov. 7, Hamden residents will hit the polls and vote for various local positions. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dozens of candidates are on the ballot for the local election. Here is a breakdown of what you need to know.
Residents will vote on candidates for Mayor, Town Clerk, Legislative Council, and Board of Education. The following are the candidates in the town-wide races. To view all the candidates and a sample ballot in your district, click here.

Am I Registered?
If you do not know if you are registered to vote, you can click here. Applications must be postmarked or received by a voter registration agency by the 7th day before an election, which is Oct. 31. However, if you miss the deadline for registering for an election, Connecticut now offers same-day voter registration. You can register and vote in person on Election Day at your town's Election Day Registration location. You can contact your local registrars of voters for information.

Absentee Ballots
You can vote by absentee due to the following reasons:
- Illness or physical disability
- Absence from town during all election hours
- Religious beliefs forbidding secular activity on election day
- Serving as an election official at a polling place other than your own
- Active service in the Armed Forces
