Hamden Plans to Build New West Woods School
The Legislative Council recently approved bonding for the new school and for a "renovate like new" project for another school.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden plans on building a new West Woods School instead of renovating it “as new” following a recent vote by the Legislative Council, according to the New Haven Register.
Kate Ramunni of the Register reports that school will be built behind the existing building, which will be torn down, on the same property.
Town officials said changes in the state’s reimbursement regulations for “as new” renovation projects made it more fiscally prudent to build a new school, according to the Register.

However, at the same special meeting, the council approved bonding for a “renovate like new” project for Shepherd Glen School, which officials said is a different situation than at West Woods, according to the Register.
