Hamden Police Arrest New Haven Man Accused of Firing off Several Gunshots
Darrell Anderson, 32, allegedly attempted to flee from police following incident in Shadows Bar and Grill parking lot.

A New Haven man was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly firing off several gunshots in the parking lot area of Shadows Bar and Grill and leading police on a foot pursuit, according to a police press release.
Police said that at about 2 a.m. on Nov. 1, Officer Joseph Venditto of the Hamden Police Department heard “6 to 7 gunshots” coming from the parking lot area of Shadows Bar and Grill. He immediately ran toward the parking lot in an attempt to locate any injured individuals or the shooter.
Officer Venditto observed an individual, who was later identified as Darrell Anderson, jumping “frantically” over a wooden fence. He chased Anderson through the surrounding area.

Police said that during the foot pursuit, it appears that Anderson fired another gunshot. Anderson subsequently ran inside of Shadow’s Bar and Grill and entered a room. He eventually emerged and again attempted to flee, according to police.
Anderson, who continuously resisted arrest, was ultimately apprehended.

Police said a search of the area led to the discovery of a 9mm handgun, ammunition and spent shell casings. Further investigation revealed that the firearm was stolen in Orange.
Anderson, 32, of 365 Orchard Street, Apartment 23, in New Haven, was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment, interfering with a police officer and breach of peace.
Anderson, who was detained at police headquarters on a $100,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 14.
