Hamden Police Charge Two Men with Attempting to Steal Vehicles

Police responded to the area of Lakeview Avenue at about 3:45 a.m. on Monday.

Hamden police arrested two New Haven men for allegedly attempting to steal motor vehicles in the area of Lakeview Avenue early Monday morning.

Police responded to the area at about 3:45 a.m. on July 27 on the report of several individuals attempting to steal motor vehicles.

Shortly thereafter, Officer Justin Martin located Michael Henderson riding a bicycle in the area, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Smith said further investigation revealed that Henderson was responsible for the attempted car theft.

Moments later, Sergeant Michael Sigmon and Officer Peter Conti located Tyrone Brown, who was also involved in the incident. Both Henderson and Brown were arrested and transported to police headquarters.

Hamden police arrested Henderson, 22, of 10 Dagget Street, New Haven, on charges of criminal attempt to commit third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief. Henderson is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Aug. 7.

Brown, 20, of 14 Steven Street, New Haven, was arrested on charges of third-degree burglary and interfering with a police officer. Brown is also scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 7.
