Hamden Police Issue COVID-19 Halloween Safety Tips For Residents
The police department will assign additional resources to help to ensure the safety of residents on Halloween, according to officials.
HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Police Department has issued safety tips for Halloween amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“The Hamden Police Department would like to take this opportunity to wish our residents a Happy Halloween,” Capt. Ronald Smith wrote in a news release. “We hope the evening is filled with excitement. Of equal importance is everyone’s safety.”

- Children should wear costumes with reflective markings. Adults should also wear reflective clothing.
- Children/Adults should carry a flashlight or glow sticks.

- Children should be accompanied by an adult.
- Wear costumes that don’t obstruct your vision.
- Please utilize sidewalks if they are available.
- All treats should be thoroughly inspected, before consumed.
- Never enter a stranger’s home.
- Never accept a ride from a stranger.
- Parents should be aware of the route that their children are taking.
COVID-19 Safety Tips:
- Wear a cloth mask. A costume mask is not a substitute.
- Stay at least 6 feet away from people that you do not reside with.
- Avoid large gatherings.
- Utilize hand sanitizer often. Use it after touching objects, including candy.
- Providers should distribute candy outdoors if feasible.
- Providers should avoid direct contact with trick or treaters.
“The Hamden Police Department will assign additional manpower to help to ensure the safety of our residents,” according to Smith. “Please help to make this a safe and enjoyable evening for all of our residents.”
