Hamden Police: Man on Parole had Gun in Close Vicinity to 5-Year-Old Child

The man was arrested on Wednesday.

Hamden police arrested a town man, who is on parole, for criminal possession of a firearm that was in the vicinity of a 5-year-old child.

Hamden police were contacted by the Department of Corrections Parole Division on Wednesday regarding an investigation. They advised police that parolee Craig Brown may be in the possession of a firearm.

Hamden police and parole officers subsequently responded to Brown’s residence and located a .25 caliber handgun. Police said a 5 year-old child was in the vicinity of the unsecured firearm. Brown was promptly arrested and transported to police headquarters.

Brown, 32, of 1560 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden, was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a firearm and risk of injury to a minor. Brown, who was detained on a $100,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on May 8.
