Hamden Police Seek Second Suspect in Oct. 19 Homicide

The suspect, Nicholas Papantoniou, is said to be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

On the same day that the Hamden Police announced an arrest in the Oct. 19 murder of Larry Dildy, the department is in the process of preparing an arrest warrant for a second suspect.

Police are searching for Nicholas Papantoniou, a 38-year-old white male with last known addresses of 12 Orpington Street, Hamden and 38 Bright Street, New Haven, for the crime of felony murder as well as other charges, for his role in this incident, according to a police press release.

The West Haven Police Department has an active arrest warrant for Papantoniou on the charge of second-degree assault that is unrelated to the Hamden Police’s investigation.

Police said that Papantoniou is to be considered armed and extremely dangerous to society at this time.

Earlier in the day, police announced the arrest of William Coutermash, 33, of South End Road in East Haven and charged him with with felony murder, conspiracy to commit home invasion, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, removing identification off of a firearm, and criminal possession of a firearm.

In a press conference on Friday afternoon, police said they were searching for Papantoniou and Police Chief Thomas Wydra said, “This is a notice to the world: we all should be looking for him,” according to the New Haven Register.
