Hamden Police Training Initiatives
The Hamden Police Department has placed a special emphasis on topics that are affecting law enforcement today.

The Hamden Police Department receive training on a variety of topics. Training is regularly scheduled 10 months during each calendar year. The Training Division supervisor is responsible for scheduling the training, as well as scheduling classes that are mandated by the State of Connecticut (P.O.S.T.)

The Hamden Police Department has placed a special emphasis on topics that are affecting law enforcement today. Specifically, within the past two years, Hamden Police Officers have received “De-escalation Training” on two different occasions. In addition, officers have received training on topics including; Hate and Bias, Crisis Intervention Involving Youth, Sexual Harassment, Domestic Violence and a lecture from members of the Anti-Defamation League.
During the upcoming months of November and December, the Hamden Police Department will host training classes in Fair and Impartial Policing and Autism Awareness.
