Hamden Republicans Nominate Candidate For Mayor

The Hamden Republican Town Committee has nominated its candidate for mayor in this November's municipal election.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Republican Town Committee unanimously nominated Crystal Dailey as its candidate for mayor in this November’s municipal election.

The committee held its nominating convention for municipal candidates Wednesday at the Hamden Senior Center.

“Delegates consisting of elected Republican Town Committee members unanimously and emphatically decided that Dailey would headline the Republican slate for the 2023 municipal elections,” according to a news release from the Hamden Republican Town Committee. “Dailey, who was appointed to the Hamden Board of Education in February, is the first Black woman to receive an official party nomination for Mayor of Hamden.”

Dailey noted that “improving critical infrastructure in southern Hamden, making the town more affordable for residents and businesses, and making its streets safer for families and visitors,” are keys to her platform, according to the news release.

“It is such a great honor to receive this nomination and I am energized by the support of community members who help propel our vision of unity and transparency for Hamden,” Dailey said in a statement. “Thank you to the Republican Town Committee for this vote of confidence, let’s continue to work together and bring our voices back to Town Hall.”

Hamden Republican Town Committee Chairman Joy Wildman celebrated Dailey’s nomination.

“Congratulations to Crystal on receiving this nomination,” Wildman said. “The Hamden RTC is proud to have her represent us at the top of the ticket. Tonight’s vote only emphasizes the support that she has from Committee members and she will be a great leader for Hamden.”

A finance manager in the healthcare industry, Dailey is a “skilled professional with strong experience as a youth minister,” officials wrote in the news release. “Community members herald her skillset and demeanor, remarking that it fuels her run to be Hamden’s top executive.

“A recent SEEC filing disclosed that Dailey’s campaign has raised in excess of 125% of the incumbent mayor.”
