Hamden Resident Appointed Director for Multicultural Education

A Hamden resident has been appointed director for multicultural education and training at Quinnipiac University.

HAMDEN, CT – Daymyen Layne of Hamden has been appointed director for multicultural education and training at Quinnipiac University.

In his new role, Layne is responsible for executing key initiatives and programming in alignment with the inclusive excellence pillar outlined in Quinnipiac’s strategic plan. He also will develop competency-based trainings and workshops surrounding topical areas related to diversity, inclusion and social identity development, and foster multicultural awareness and cross-cultural interaction among students, faculty and staff. Additionally, he will develop goals and assess the effectiveness of programs sponsored by the university’s Department of Cultural and Global Engagement.

“It is a privilege and an honor to serve in this role at Quinnipiac University,” Layne said. “To champion equity and inclusion efforts here means that we, as a holistic community, are the ones who will continue to build the bridges that more deeply connect us as people. Layne comes to Quinnipiac from the University of Arizona, where he served as director of residential education. He has 15 years of experience in the areas of student affairs, residential life, student development, multicultural competency, diversity and inclusion, policy development and strategic planning.

Layne has a master’s degree in higher education student affairs from Salem State University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hartwick College.
