Hamden Resident Named GNAC Player Of The Week

It is the second time this season that the Hamden High School graduate has been named the conference's Player of the Week.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden’s Justice Washington, a senior on the Albertus Magnus College men’s basketball team, was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his performance during the week of Jan. 8-14, officials announced Monday.

Washington, a Hamden High School graduate, averaged 17 points and 15.5 rebounds and two blocks during the Falcons’ 2-0 week.

In a 74-69 GNAC win over Mitchell on Jan. 10, Washington had 19 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks in the win. Nine of his rebounds were offensive.

On Saturday, Jan. 13, Washington had 15 points and 15 rebounds to go with a steal in an 86-76 overtime win over Saint Joseph's (Maine). The win helped the Falcons stay undefeated in GNAC play at 5-0 and in first place in the conference.

Washington is averaging 16.1 points and 11.3 rebounds per game this season. He has nine double-doubles on the season.
