Hamden Resident Receives Nursing Scholarship

The Quinnipiac University graduate received the scholarship from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Foundation.

HAMDEN, CT — (Contributed press release): Quinnipiac University graduate Kristin Kunze of Hamden has received a $1,000 scholarship from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Foundation. Kunze earned her doctor of nursing practice degree in nurse anesthesia on May 12.

“I am honored to receive this scholarship, knowing that it comes from a long tradition of scholarly, devoted nurse anesthesia leaders,” she said in a press release. “I look forward to many years of continued participation and leadership within the AANA as I transition into clinical practice.”

The New England Assembly of Nurse Anesthetists sponsored Kunze’s scholarship.

Kunze, who earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Northeastern University, has been accepted into the inaugural class of the master’s in quantitative management in healthcare analytics at Duke University. She also will start her first job as a certified registered nurse anesthetist at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio in August.

The AANA Foundation received 2,520 competitive student scholarship applications this year, and awarded 58 scholarships totaling $130,000.

Founded in 1931, the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists is the professional association representing more than 52,000 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and student registered nurse anesthetists nationwide. The AANA promulgates education and practice standards and guidelines, and affords consultation to both private and governmental entities regarding nurse anesthetists and their practice.
