A Hamden resident returned home to find a burglary suspect on his property before the suspect fled in a vehicle that was parked in the driveway.

Moments later, an individual, described as a black male, “middle-aged”, tall, average build, with short hair, emerged from the rear of his residence. The individual subsequently entered the parked motor vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed towards Belair Road, according to Smith.

The homeowner discovered that his residence was forcibly entered. The individual located a safe and carried it to the basement. The homeowner’s tools were used to open the safe. It is unknown at this time what was stolen during the burglary.
