Hamden’s National Night Out Postponed
The event will have activities for all ages, including a free cookout sponsored by Haven Beer Company with live entertainment, and more.

HAMDEN, CT — Town officials are making residents aware of the following changes due to the anticipated inclement weather for Tuesday, Aug. 6.
Hamden’s National Night Out event scheduled for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Villano Park, 260 Mill Rock Rd, has been postponed to Tuesday, Oct. 1 due to the anticipated inclement weather.

Please join us on Oct. 1 in coming together to build community and police relationships and safer neighborhoods as part of an ongoing, year-round effort, Project 365, which continuously works to create change in the community.
Hamden’s National Night Out will have fun activities and events for all ages, including a free cookout sponsored by Haven Beer Company with live entertainment, music from local talent and DJ Prime, raffle prizes, and Zumba hosted by The Green Peacock. Hamden Youth Services Bureau, Hamden Police Department, and Target will be engaging with the community by providing activities, information, and resources, such as lawn games and make-and-take crafts.

Hamden’s National Night Out will host exhibitors that represent over 15 businesses and community organizations, such as Eli’s Garden of Healing, Hamden Community Services, Hamden Fire Department, CERT, We Are the Village, MADD, and more, as well as larger groups with Hamden partnerships. Raffle prizes will be provided by Target, Hamden Police Department, Cinemark, Three Brothers Diner, Books and Company, Legal Grounds, Soup Girl/Scoop Girl, and Whitneyville Food Center.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live and work. Communities throughout Hamden are invited to join over 38 million neighborhoods across 18 thousand communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide.
Along with traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, most communities celebrate National Night Out by hosting block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits, and more. National Night Out is nationally sponsored by NATW, ADT, Starbucks, Associa, L.E.A.D. and additional organizations and businesses.
National Project Coordinator, Matt Peskin said “This is a night for our nation to stand together and promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement. When law enforcement and the community work closely together, some amazing things can happen.”
Hamden’s National Night Out is presented by Hamden Youth Services Bureau, the Hamden Police Department and Strengthening Police and Community Partnerships. It is held in cooperation with CERT, Hamden Fire Department, Hamden Parks Department, Hamden Public Works, and the Mayor’s Office.
