In 2001, just four days before her 10th birthday, Jamie Lynn Sullivan died in a tragic house fire while sleeping over at a friend’s house. The cause of the fire is unknown, but her cause of death was clear: smoke inhalation. The home’s smoke detectors did not have batteries. If they did, Jamie would be alive today. That’s why the Jamie Lynn Sullivan Memorial Foundation provides smoke detectors to families in need on a consistent basis. This donate will go a long way to prevent future tragedies.
Many friends of the family of founder and president, Andrea Koch, just kept coming to lend their support for her niece, Jamie Lynn Sullivan, for whom this foundation was formed. Jenna, Jamie Lynn’s sister, brought her coins in and was happy to donate $43. Six members of the Hamden Fire Department stopped by to show their support for this organization that is near and dear to their hearts. Todd Moler, a friend of the family, wrapped up the day with a generous donation of $200.
