Hamden Wins 1st SCC Boys’ Basketball Championship
The Green Dragons earned a historic victory in the SCC championship game on Wednesday night.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden boys’ basketball team has claimed its first Southern Connecticut Conference championship with a 67-49 victory over defending champ Hillhouse in Wednesday night’s title game at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
Hamden’s Victor Rosario, who finished with a game-high 23 points, was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. No. 4 Hillhouse beat the third-seeded Green Dragons (21-3) twice during the regular season — 59-56 on Jan. 19 and 72-61 on Feb. 9.
Hamden coach Jarrad Beck, who is a special education teacher at Hillhouse, told Joe Morelli of the New Haven Register after the game that the victory was more than an SCC championship and called it a "Hamden program championship."
