Hamden Wins SCC Girls Basketball Championship, Beats SHA
The Hamden girls basketball team claimed its fourth SCC title in five years with a win over town rival Sacred Heart Academy on Wednesday.
HAMDEN, CT — Hamden rolled past town rival Sacred Heart Academy 70-57 in the SCC girls basketball championship game Wednesday night at the M&T Bank Arena at Quinnipiac University.
It was the fourth overall SCC title for the Green Dragons (23-0). Hamden also won the conference championship in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
Sacred Heart won last year’s championship, and also claimed the D-2 title in 2021 when two tournaments were held due to COVID-19 restrictions, according to GameTimeCT.

Alana Philpotts led Hamden with 21 points, while Gianna Donnarummo had 20, according to SCC Commissioner Al Carbone.
Emma Kirck led Sacred Heart Academy with 20 points and Lyla D'Errico had 18.

Philpotts was named MVP of the championship, according to GameTimeCT.
