Hamden Wins SCC Girls Hockey Championship
The Hamden girls hockey team claimed its first SCC title with a win over rival West Haven/Sacred Heart Academy in the championship game.
HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden girls hockey team won its first SCC title with a 3-1 victory over West Haven/Sacred Heart Academy in the championship game Friday night at the Edward L. Bennett Rink in West Haven.
The Green Dragons avenged a double-overtime loss to West Haven/Sacred Heart in last year’s championship game.
Hamden goalie Kyra Sweeney was named the 2024 SCC Girls Ice Hockey Playoffs Most Outstanding Player, according to SCC Commissioner Al Carbone.

Sweeney finished with 29 saves, including 10 in a thrilling third period, according to GameTimeCT.
Lexy Patel’s short-handed goal in the second period broke a 1-1 tie and helped lead Hamden to the victory, according to GameTime CT.
