Hamden Woman Seeks to Open Cooking School in Milford

The Hamden resident teaches people to cook currently out of her own home.

Remember when the city of Milford paid $795,000 in 2002 to acquire a 2-acre parcel in Walnut Beach to prevent a developer from constructing condos there.

The city had ambitious plans at one time to construct a $7 million visual and performing arts center on the land on Stowe Avenue, which features a barn among other items.

Well fast-forward 14 years later, and the once discussed performing arts center project has long been stalled and now word has surfaced that a Hamden woman, Heide Lang, is interested in opening a cooking school there, the Connecticut Post reports.

Lang will present her plans to the Walnut Beach Association 7 p.m. Monday at St. Gabriel Church.

Lang operates her Fig Cooking School out of her Hamden home where she teaches people to cook and they sample their food together, the Post reports.

Correction: The purchase price was mistakenly reported as being $2 million and in reality it was for $795,000.
