Hamden ‘Youth Minister’ Charged with Sexual Assault: Police

Police say the man, who volunteers at a local church, is accused of having sexual relations with a juvenile.

Hamden, CT — A 27-year-old Hamden man who volunteers at a local church as a “youth minister” is accused of having sexual relations with a juvenile, according to police.

In April, Hamden Police began a sexual assault investigation that occurred on Warren Street, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that Lionel McFadden, 27, who volunteers at a local church as a “youth minister” had sexual relations with a juvenile.

Detective Stephen Rossaci of the Hamden Police Department Special Victims Unit conducted the investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for McFadden.

McFadden turned himself in to police custody on June 30.

McFadden, of 107 Warren Street in Hamden, was arrested on charges of second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

McFadden, who was detained on a $20,000 court-ordered bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 14.
