Hamden's Earth Day Celebration Scheduled For April 22

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden will celebrate Earth Day on April 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Town Center Park, 2761 Dixwell Ave.

- Hamden Middle School Annual Clothing Drive, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- CET Business Recycling Sign Up for April 25th
- K9 Demonstration by the Hamden Police Department
- “Touch a Truck” with the Hamden Fire Department
- Annual Orchid Awards
- Other fun and games for kids and families

The town is also hosting a community volunteer paint day on April 22 in conjunction with Earth Day. The community will paint part of the MLK39 Racial Equity Mural.

The second community volunteer paint day will be on Thursday, May 11, at Keefe Community Center from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
There are several activities still planned for the remainder of the week leading up to and after Saturday:
Wednesday, April 19: Rain Barrel Workshop at Brundage Community Branch Library, 91 Circular Ave.: 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. – Program on constructing rain barrels with Frank Panzarella.
Friday, April 21: The Whitney Center Conservation/Nature Committee Neighborhood Cleanup.
Sunday, April 23: Recycling Q&A at The Unitarian Society of New Haven: 12 p.m. – Conversation with Hamden Recycling Coordinator Joe DeRisi.
Tuesday, April 25: Free Waste and Energy Assessments for Small Businesses with CET By Appointment.
