Hamden's Fanolis Named SCSU Athlete of the Week
Zoe Fanolis scored the game-winning goal for the SCSU field hockey team over the weekend.

Hamden’s Zoe Fanolis, a junior on the field hockey team, and senior Dieter Gutbrod (Sandy Hook, Conn.) of the men’s cross country team have been named as the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Fanolis played an integral role in a 1-1 week for the Owls. She registered the game-winning goal with just 48 seconds left in regulation on Saturday as SCSU captured a 4-3 victory at American International.
Gutbrod had an impressive start to his campaign on Saturday at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. He finished second out of 324 participants with a time of 25:15.01. Southern Connecticut placed 13th out of 43 teams at the competition.
