Bruce Crowder

Is the nominee considered an “essential worker”?:
No

What does the nominee do for work?:
While he is not an essential worker, he has a 3D printer in his basement. He spends his own time, money, and resources to print hundreds of face shields for workers and healthcare. For me, he has printed over 200 but I have been able to distribute to five different nursing facilities that care for the elderly and the sick all over the state. When I walk in with these huge bags of face shields that he has made, workers have literally had tears in their eyes and are so incredibly grateful that someone would do this selfless thing to protect them and help them so that they can do their job safely.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Because he is a hidden hero who has gone so far above and beyond to protect health-care workers. He has never asked for a penny, and he has made all of this safety and protective gear so that workers can work confidently and safely take care of the most vulnerable in our town. He is humble and kind, and such a generous and gracious person overall, and it is really exemplified in this particular thing that he is done, though it is one of so much more that he is always doing in his life to take care of others.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
I want everyone to know, that you don't have to be a frontline worker to be a hero. We have a hidden hero in our town with Bruce, and his gifts touch lives in immeasurable ways.
