Here's How Many Distracted Drivers Hamden PD Nabbed

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden Police handed out nearly 600 tickets for distracted driving during the enforcement campaign between Aug. 1 and Aug. 15.

Officers were stationed at locations including Dixwell and Whitney avenues looking for distracted drivers.

Below are the results:

- 595 infractions (tickets) were issued for cell phone use/distracted driving
- 7 infractions (tickets) were issued for various motor vehicle violations
- 4 misdemeanor summonses, which require a court appearance, were issued for
“Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under Suspension.”
- 5 criminal arrests were made on the strength of outstanding arrest warrants
