More than 20 percent of municipal solid waste is food scraps and yard waste, both of which can be composted. Reducing this waste by even half could save the Town thousands per year in waste disposal costs. Compost helps improve your garden and landscaping by adding valuable nutrients to the soil.

To encourage composting, the South Central Regional Council of Governments in conjunction with regional towns is offering 80 gallon Earth Machine Compost Bins made with 50% recycled plastic at a reduced cost of $55.00.

The compost bin provides a convenient way to keep food & yard waste out of the waste stream. The bin retails for $ 100.00, but through a bulk purchase residents pay only $ 55.00.

(There are also counter top containers, rain barrels etc. available at a discount).
