Homeowner Detains Burglar Until Police Arrive: Hamden Police
Police responded to a report of a burglary-in-progress and say the homeowner prevented the suspect from leaving the area.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden homeowner prevented a burglar from leaving the area until police arrived on the scene to detain the suspect earlier this week, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. The homeowner caught the suspect stealing a TV from inside the home.
Police responded to the 1600 block of Dixwell Avenue on Jan. 23 on the report of a burglary-in-progress. Arriving officers detained James Rainieri, who was seated inside of his motor vehicle, according to Smith.
Smith said the homeowner had prevented Rainieri from leaving the area. Rainieri had entered the residence through an unlocked window and stole a television, according to Smith.
