House Fire Extinguished After Neighbor Calls 911: Hamden FD
Firefighters rescued a dog from the fire, which was reported while the residents weren't home, according to officials.
HAMDEN, CT — A home was damaged during a fire Thursday afternoon in Hamden, according to officials.
Crews responded around 12:35 p.m. to a fire on Harmon Street. A neighbor saw smoke coming from the roof of the house and called 911, according to Hamden Fire Marshal Brian Dolan.
Dolan said the residents weren’t home at the time of the fire.

“Arriving crews arrived to find smoke coming from a roof solar panel,” Dolan wrote in a news release. “Crews proceeded to the roof and the interior finished attic. Utilities were shut off to the house and firefighters were able to quickly extinguish fire in the area of the rafters beneath one of the solar panels.
“No firefighters or civilians were injured in the fire. A dog was safely evacuated by arriving firefighters. The house experienced damage to one of the solar panels and the roof in the area of the panel along with some minor water damage to the interior of the home.”
