HSS Opens Physician Office in Hamden

Expands Connecticut Operations to Serve New Haven-Area Patients

HSS, the world’s leading academic medical center focused on musculoskeletal health, is increasing its presence in Connecticut with the opening of an office in Hamden at 2080 Whitney Avenue, Suite 280. The Hamden location expands both the HSS Sports Medicine Institute and HSS Spine in Connecticut. The office is staffed by orthopedic surgeons Theodore A. Blaine, MD, and Steven J. McAnany, MD.

Dr. Blaine, a sports medicine surgeon, is recognized nationally and internationally for his expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery. Dr. Blaine has had a long-standing presence treating patients in Hamden prior to joining HSS in 2019. Dr. McAnany is a spine surgeon with expertise in degenerative spine conditions and minimally invasive surgery. Both doctors will split their time between Hamden and HSS Stamford.

HSS has offered a full suite of medical and imaging services in Stamford since early 2015 encompassing sports medicine, spine services, hip and knee replacement, foot and ankle surgery, hand surgery, pain management rheumatology, pediatric orthopedics, sports rehabilitation and physical therapy. Since then, HSS has expanded its physical therapy programs to other locations in Stamford, Greenwich and New Canaan. Hamden represents HSS’s second physician office in Connecticut.
