Joseph White has more Bibles and spiritual books in his apartment than he has furniture.
His living area features a small table with two chairs, books and notepads. Upstairs in his bedroom is an air mattress.
The apartment is small but it’s clean, neat and tidy, except for the bags of Christmas gifts in the living room.

White had none of this last year. He was homeless until July 22, when he moved into his Putnam Avenue apartment. It’s the first Christmas since his teenage years that White has been able to celebrate in his own home and has had gifts for his family.
