Vey said the suspect left the scene in a white Kia with rear damage. Hamden Dispatch said that they received information from New Haven Police that a white Kia was involved in a “shots fired” incident a short time earlier in their city, and that the vehicle was last seen in the area of Fourth Street in Hamden, according to Vey.
“During the course of the investigation, Officer Seagren located the suspect vehicle on Fourth Street and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop,” Vey wrote in a news release. “The suspect vehicle refused to stop, and a short pursuit ensued. Officer Seagren advised that the vehicle pulled into a Southern Connecticut State University parking lot on Fitch Street. The operator then exited the vehicle and ran into a parking garage in the lot. Officer Seagren was able to apprehend a juvenile, out of New Haven, in the stairwell of the parking garage. It was later determined that the white Kia was an unreported stolen vehicle out of New Haven.”
