Latest Details on Hamden's First Possible Snowflakes and Much-Needed Rain
Connecticut is in the midst of a severe drought and Thursday's forecast offers up some good news.

By Brian McCready
This will be the fun kind of snow for Connecticut and those who have to travel on Thursday, and more importantly some much-needed rain is on the way. It appears most of the state could see its first snowflakes of the year sometime mid-to-late Thursday morning but no real accumulation is expected.
Once the snowflakes quickly turn to rain Thursday, we could see between a half inch to one inch of rain in Connecticut, which is in the midst of a severe drought.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said on his Facebook page Wednesday morning that we can “Expect a bit of snow and sleet tomorrow morning as the leading edge of this next storm moves in. There could be some minor accumulation in the hill towns but for most areas it's a few stray sleet pellets and snow flakes before a change to a cold rain.”
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said “It's going to feel like November all day today! Sunshine with high temperatures only in the 40s with a chilly wind. The commute for Thursday morning will be dry. A light mix going over the rain for Thursday midday and afternoon. Dry weather returns on Friday!”
