Latest Details on Hamden's Next Snow Chance

The near 50-degree temps are leaving us and there is some snow in the forecast.

By Brian McCready

Temps into the mid-40s to near 50 degrees weren’t going to last forever in Connecticut in late January as we head into February. The biggest weather change this week will be that temperatures will feel much colder with daytime highs staying in the low to mid 30s for much of the week and next weekend.

As of right now, there is only one chance for some snow in the seven-day forecast. Initially, there was talk that a decent storm could form next Sunday, which is the Super Bowl, but Weather.com now says there is only a 20-percent chance of precipitation Sunday into next Monday.

Currently, the only snow chance is forecast for Tuesday and it appears it will begin after the morning commute. However, it looks like there will be snow falling during the evening commute home. This isn’t expected to be a big deal with less than one inch of total snow accumulation expected. No advisories have been issued by the National Weather Service.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote, “Lots of clouds today but it will be dry and cold! Dress for 20s! Some light snow expected midday tomorrow right through the afternoon and evening. Back to quiet weather for the end of the week.”
