HAMDEN, CT – Mayor Curt Leng is planning to propose Hamden establish an “Animal Shelter Gift Fund” to help get an animal shelter finally built in town.

Leng, on his Facebook page, said he is “Pleased to report I am recommending a resolution to Leg Council that would establish Hamden’s 1st ‘Animal Shelter Gift Fund.’”

Leng added: “After winning approval of $400,000 of capital funds for project already, this is next step toward making this overdue project a reality!”

Although Hamden has had plans to build its own animal shelter for years, and has put aside funds in past budgets to do so, it currently shares space with North Haven to house animals.
