Local dance studio wins big at National Dance Competition

American Dance Experience Wins Big!

A Hamden dance studio is stepping it up in the dance world!

American Dance Experience recently returned from Sheer Talent National Competition, where dancers competed against several dance studios from around the country.

15 dancers performed a tap routine entitled “The Purple One”, which is compilation of Prince songs. The group received 1st place overall pre-teen lines, 1st place overall groups and lines in a special Diamond competition, and were asked to perform at the national competition awards banquet. Earlier in the season, the dancers were selected by invitation only to compete in the World Dance Championships, which takes place the first week of August at the Meadowlands in Secaucus, New Jersey.

“My kids were phenomenal,” said Alicia DeCesare-Corcoran, choreographer and owner of American Dance Experience

“I always tell my students that it’s not just about winning. Winning at competition doesn’t define you as a dancer. It’s just how you danced one day. It’s about the experience. It’s such a great experience. The experience is worth the trip” she said.
