Lost Family Rescued On Sleeping Giant In Hamden
Firefighters rescued a family of four who were lost while hiking on Sleeping Giant late Tuesday night, according to officials.

HAMDEN, CT — Firefighters rescued a family of four who were lost on Sleeping Giant in Hamden on Tuesday night, according to fire officials.
Crews responded to Sleeping Giant State Park to search for the missing family around 9:30 p.m. Crews at the scene made contact with the family via a cell phone, according to Fire Chief Gary Merwede.
Firefighters used coordinates from the U.S. National Grid system to map a route to find the hikers, according to Merwede. No injuries were reported.

“This is a good time for a PSA on hiking safety: Know the sunset time, bring a map and H20 and a charged phone,” Merwede wrote in a post on Twitter.
