HAMDEN, CT — Crews rescued a lost hiker on Sleeping Giant in Hamden late Saturday night, according to fire officials.

The hiker was found and units were clearing the scene around 10 p.m., officials said.

Firefighters have responded to calls of lost hikers several times over the past week. A family of four was rescued July 28, just a couple of days after a 73-year-old hiker was also lost and found by firefighters.

After the most recent lost hiker was rescued on Saturday night, Hamden Fire Chief Gary Merwede wrote on Twitter: “This is a good time to repeat our PSA: Sleeping Giant closes at sunset. DO NOT start on a hike that you can not complete before daylight runs out!”
