Man Accused Of Recording Boy In Bathroom At Store: Hamden Police

Police are asking for help with identifying a man accused of recording a 10-year-old boy in the bathroom at a store in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are asking for help with identifying a man accused of recording a 10-year-old boy in the bathroom at TJ Maxx in Hamden. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Nov. 22 at TJ Maxx, 2335 Dixwell Ave.

A 10-year-old boy was shopping with his guardian and entered a stall to use the bathroom, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. An unknown man asked him if he was “okay.” The boy then saw the man using a cellphone to record him, according to Smith.

Smith said the boy quickly left the bathroom and told his guardian about the incident. She tried to detain the man but was unsuccessful, according to Smith. He was last seen walking toward Dixwell Avenue.

Police are looking for a white male, 18 to 20 years old, with black hair who was wearing a yellow shirt. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Paul Calamita at (203) 230-4030.
