Arriving officers found Greene in the rear entryway of 81 Osborne Avenue, suffering from a gunshot wound to his left eye. Greene was taken by ambulance to Yale-New Haven hospital for treatment. Police said he was conscious at the scene.

Police said that Greene was initially reluctant to discuss the incident with officers but later told them he’d been robbed of his money and shot. He said when the robber pulled him from his vehicle, he shot at him, striking him in the face.
