Man Accused Of Shooting Father In Hamden: Police
The incident occurred Thursday, and the suspect is being held in lieu of bail of $500,000, according to authorities.
HAMDEN, CT — A 25-year-old Hamden man, who police said "was experiencing a mental health episode" at the time, was arrested after shooting his father in the abdomen at a home on Beacon Street on Thursday, according to Hamden police.
The father was taken to an area hospital, and is listed in stable but critical condition. The son, who was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment, was being held in lieu of bail of $500,000, was also taken to a hospital for evaluation.
"This was an isolated domestic incident," said Hamden Police Lt. Raymond Quinn in a statement. "There is no danger to the public."

The victim was shot once in the abdomen, and was conscious and alert when emergency personnel arrived. Police said the 911 call to the department reported the incident as "an accidental shooting."
"Hamden Police officers conducted an investigation and found that the victim's son was responsible for the shooting and was experiencing a mental health episode," Quinn said.
