Man Arrested On Drug Charges After Engaging In Pursuit, Getting Stuck In Bushes: Hamden Police
The man was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana after engaging an officer in pursuit, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man was arrested on drug charges after Hamden Police say he refused to pull over for an attempted motor vehicle stop before he lost control of the vehicle and got stuck in bushes.
At about 12 noon on March 11, Officer William May conducted a registration check on a vehicle traveling northbound on Dixwell Avenue with an attached license plate that DMV records showed “no information found,” according to Sgt. Anthony Diaz.
As May attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, the vehicle tried to elude him by making a quick right turn onto Dudley Street, then traveled at a high rate of speed on Dudley Court before turning onto Alling Street directly toward the officer, according to Diaz.

Diaz said the operator, later identified as Donata Crockett, then put the vehicle in reverse and proceeded eastbound on Alling Street backwards, until he lost control and backed into bushes on Dudley Court where the vehicle became disabled.
May then ordered the subject out of the vehicle where he was detained until backup officers arrived and placed him under arrest.

Diaz said further investigation led to a search of Crockett and his vehicle where officers located approximately 3.7 grams of crack cocaine and 4.7 grams of marijuana.
Crockett, 25, of Victory Drive in New Haven, was arrested on charges of illegal manufacture, distribution, sale, prescription by non-drug dependent person, possession of narcotics, possession of controlled substance – less than 4 ounces of marijuana, operating an unregistered vehicle, misuse of plate, operating a vehicle with no insurance, operating under suspension and engaging an officer in pursuit.
Crockett was detained on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on March 24.
