Man Burglarized Home, Stole Car While Residents Were Sleeping: Hamden Police

Police concluded an extensive investigation with the arrest of a 20-year-old man in connection to an overnight burglary.

Hamden Police have charged a New Haven man with a summer-time burglary in which several items were stolen, including the homeowner’s keys and motor vehicle, while the residents were sleeping.

Police recently concluded an extensive investigation into the June 29th burglary of a Morse Street home with the arrest of 20-year-old Robert Jackson.

Investigation revealed that entry was gained into the residence via an open kitchen window, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Once inside, several items were stolen, including the keys to the homeowner’s motor vehicle, house keys and an undisclosed amount of money. The individual subsequently stole the motor vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that the burglary occurred during the early morning hours, when the residents were asleep.

Later in the day, the homeowner’s stolen motor vehicle was located in West Haven, according to Smith.

Detective Mark Consorte conducted an extensive investigation which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Jackson.

Hamden Police arrested Jackson, of 186 Sheffield Avenue, on Nov. 30 at Meriden Superior Court. He was charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree larceny.

Jackson was detained on a court-ordered $100,000 bond.
