Man Carjacked At Gunpoint In Store Parking Lot: Hamden Police
The fleeing suspects went through a red light and were involved in a crash that sent one person to the hospital, according to police.
HAMDEN, CT — A man was carjacked at gunpoint in a grocery store parking lot Tuesday morning in Hamden, and the thieves were then involved in a crash that sent one person to the hospital, according to police.
Police responded to the Save-A-Lot grocery store at 1125 Dixwell Ave. around 10 a.m. on the report of a carjacking and an accident, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.
The 36-year-old victim told police that he left the store and was approached by two suspects at his vehicle. One of the suspects grabbed a hold of the victim while the second suspect pointed a handgun at him, according to Dolan.

The suspects forcibly took his car keys and stole his vehicle, Dolan said.
An investigation found that the suspects drove through a red light at the parking lot exit and caused a crash with two other vehicles on Dixwell Avenue, according to Dolan.

Dolan said one of the other vehicle’s occupants was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police recovered the stolen vehicle at the accident scene, according to Dolan.
Both suspects ran away from the stolen vehicle. They were described as two male teenagers, around 5 feet, 8 inches tall to 5-10 with thin builds and were wearing all black-colored clothing with black facemasks, Dolan said.
