HAMDEN, CT —A 36-year-old man has been charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty after Hamden Police say he moved out of his Augur Street home and left numerous cats behind, including several that were found dead, without access to food or water.
The Hamden Animal Control Division responded to Augur Street on July 6 on the report of animal cruelty and responding officers ascertained that Halfway Home Rescue removed 16 felines from the third-floor residence on July 2, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said the felines were transported to a local veterinarian for medical treatment. In addition, several dead felines were found inside of the residence.
