Man Charged With Robbing Kohl’s In Hamden: Police

The suspect told security that he was in the possession of a gun while fleeing the store after shoplifting, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A Waterbury man is accused of robbing the Kohl’s in Hamden on Black Friday, according to police. At about 7 p.m. on Nov. 24, Hamden Police responded to Kohl’s Department Store at 2380 Dixwell Avenue on the report of shoplifting, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that Marcus Jarman stole a watch from the store. While being pursued by a loss prevention officer, Jarman advised her that he was in the possession of a firearm, according to Smith.

Moments later, Officer Rachel Zinni saw Jarman in the rear parking lot of 2380 Dixwell Avenue. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

Jarman, 32, of Cook Street in Waterbury, was charged with first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. He was detained on a $1,000 bond. Jarman is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Dec. 8.
