Man Charged with Stabbing Woman at Hamden Walmart: Police
Police said a 62-year-old Hamden woman was stabbed in the chest on Tuesday evening and taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man has been charged with stabbing a 62-year-old Hamden woman in the chest at the Walmart on Dixwell Avenue on Tuesday evening, according to police.
Hamden Police responded to the scene, 2300 Dixwell Avenue, at about 6:45 p.m. on the report of a stabbing.
Responding officers located a 62-year-old Hamden resident, lying on the ground, near the cash registers, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said the woman was suffering from a stab wound to the chest and was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.
Her medical condition was unknown as of Wednesday morning, Smith said.

Sergeant Michael Doherty arrested the suspect in the violent assault, Nathaniel Williams, according to Smith.
Williams was taken into custody, while standing in front of Walmart. It was determined that Williams and the victim know each other, Smith said.
Williams, 68, of 57 Admiral Street in New Haven, was charged with first-degree assault and breach of peace.
Williams, who was detained on a $50,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Wednesday.
